IPS Members are eligible and encouraged to apply for the following awards:

Research & Development Awards       

Up to £5,000

The Ethicon Nurse/Practitioner Trust Fund Award

Up to £1,000

Funded places at the IPS Annual Conference & Exhibition

Up to £500

Free papers at conference

Research & Development Awards

Criteria
Applications for all awards must be submitted annually by mid-January

Collaborative Small Projects Award

For a team of up to 5 researchers an award of £5,000 for one year
To undertake a piece of research focusing on any aspect of infection prevention and control
Lead applicant must have been a member of IPS for 12 months and have masters degree or similar experience

Post Doctoral Award

An award of £3,000 for two years to support a piece of research on any aspect of infection prevention and control   
Applicant must have been a member of IPS for 12 months and hold a doctoral degree

Novice Investigator Award

An award to a novice researcher of £1,000 per annum for three years to support research at a masters or doctoral level to focus on any aspect of infection prevention and control        
The applicant must have held membership for a period of 12 months and hold a relevant undergraduate or masters degree



The Ethicon Nurse/Practitioner Trust Fund Award

Criteria

A fund of £5,000 is available to IPS members to apply for a grant to assist with further development. Applicants can apply for a maximum of £1,000                                                                                     
Explicit objectives must demonstrate positive benefits in the practice of infection prevention and control. Successful applicants will receive a single one-off payment in any year. Full analysis and proof of anticipated expenditure must be submitted with the application. The award is open to full or honorary members based in the UK or Ireland only. A final written report is required on completion of project Closing date for application: 1st Friday in March annually.

Funded places at the IPS Annual Conference & Exhibition
10 places are available to full members each year. Applicants must supply a letter from their employer stating that they will not be funding their member of staff. The funding is available to meet the costs of delegate registration fees only and applications are awarded on a first come, first served basis       
 
Closing date for applications must be received by 1st June annually    
Successful applicants will be notified by 30th June annually

 

Free Papers at conference
An award of £200 is made annually for the best free paper presentation at the annual conference



Best Poster at conference  
An award of £200 is made annually for the best poster presentation at the annual conference



The Brendan Moore Society Award

The Brendan Moore award is bestowed on an individual who, in the opinion of the Consultative Committee, meets the criteria laid down

Criteria
• The person is a full member of the Society
• The person has made a very significant contribution to furthering the aims and goals of the organisation
• The person has made this contribution while in an official position within the Society

Any member of the Board or Consultative Committee may nominate an individual member of the Society for the award who meets the criteria as laid out above. One such award may be made annually at the discretion of the Consultative Committee. The nominator is responsible for submitting a nomination to the Honorary Secretary by the 28th February each year for consideration at the next Consultative Committee (CC) meeting
