The IPS and BD-Becton Dickinson are working together to develop an Improvement Collaborative with the aim to spread best practice, reduce infections and improve outcomes for patients with urinary catheters or intravascular devices by bringing together front-line clinicians from acute and primary care, members of the IPS and other professional societies who have expertise in managing patients with such devices.

We are launching this collaborative on 11th April 2019 at BD Headquarters, Winnersh Triangle, Reading with an event that will explore the challenges and solutions to improving the management of these devices.  If you are interested in being part of this improvement collaborative and contributing to this exciting event you can register via the link.  If possible, we would also like you to bring 1 or 2 front-line clinicians from your organisation who are involved in caring for patients with these devices (e.g., ward based nurse, community nurse, urology/IV specialist nurse etc) as their experience will provide invaluable insight and enable us work together to develop solutions.

Purpose of the Launch Event

  • To discuss best practice in relation to the management of urinary catheters and intravascular devices
  • To capture the experience of front-line clinicians and use the findings from the launch event to inform the development of resources to support improvement

Delegates

  • We are seeking to draw on your expertise during the day, to inform the development of strategies and resources to support best practice in relation to care of devices.
  • Information gathered during the event will be made available to delegates and there will be further opportunities to participate in the work of the collaborative.

Programme

  • The event will start at 10.30 (registration from 10) with a series of short talks.  These will be followed by workshops that will focus on the current reality of practice and what is needed to assure best practice. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  The programme is available here

Please complete the form via the link provided to register your interest, any front-line clinicians that are attending with you would also need to register for the event individually. You will be contacted by a member of the team to confirm your place.  Please note that places at the event are limited so please apply early.
