Looking after immuno-suppressed patients on your general ward.

I think that immunosuppressed patients seem to get forgotten, side rooms gets swallowed up by infected patients and immuno-suppressed patients end up being nursed in a bay with everybody else.
Does anyone have anything they could share with me that covers this subject. I want to incorporate the water risk element of having filters on their taps, shower heads, protecting them from waterborne infections, drinking filtered water etc.
Thank you!

Hi James, I am a matron in IPC and work in the cancer speciality. look at the Nice Guidance NG47 for haematology adults and the National Cancer Network NCCN which recognise immunocompromised patients with solid cancer disease. There is also the immunocompromised section of the green book. The recent NETB for water states all patients with central lines should be in augmented care now.
