Jimmy WalkerPhD,BSc is a microbiologist with over 30 years’ experience. He worked for Public Health England managing a range of Legionella projects on bio films and pathogens including Pseudomonasaeruginosa and Mycobacteriaspp. He collaborated with the Department of Health (DH England) and the Health and Safety Executive to develop national and international guidance on the microbiology of water and decontamination. On leaving PHE he established his consultancy “Walker on Water”. He is Chair of the Central Sterilising Club and the Decontamination Professional Experts Committee Forum. He has contributed to recent guidance including BS8580-2 Risk assessments for water borne pathogens, including P.aeruginosa. Jimmy publishes on water microbiology and is currently writing a new book entitled “Safe Water in Healthcare”.
