Dr Laura Vincent
Consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia at Oxford University Hospitals
Laura has been a Consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) since 2019 having completed postgraduate training in the Thames Valley. She is simulation and education lead for critical care at OUH and is passionate about multi-disciplinary medical education, with particular focus on human factors, patient safety and the link to staff wellbeing.
Laura is an active faculty member of OxSTaR simulation centre, University of Oxford and delivers human factors and patient safety training to healthcare professionals across specialties in OUH. She is also involved in local serious incident investigation and staff safety training in response to never events.
She led the development and implementation of multiple COVID safe Critical Care procedures in OUH and delivered rapid and widespread training in these protocols for local and redeployed staff.
Laura has conducted multiple research and quality improvement projects in the fields of medical education, simulation and staff wellbeing, which have been published and presented nationally.
Recently Laura was one of the lead investigators on a dual site simulation-based randomised controlled trial, investigating the impact of PPE design and use on the spread of multi resistant organisms between cohorted critically ill patients.
She was delighted to be asked to speak about this project at IP2021.
