Professor Fidelma Fitzpatrick 

Head of Department of Clinical Microbiology, RCSI and Consultant Microbiologist, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.

 

 

Previously, she worked at a national level from 2010-2014.  As the first National clinical lead for the prevention of healthcare-associated infection (HCAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), she established the national clinical programme, coordinated the national HCAI and AMR workplan, lead the national public information campaign on antibiotics, national hand hygiene and antimicrobial stewardship programme and oversaw the establishment of the National AMR Intersectoral Coordinating Committee between the Dept of Health and Dept of Agriculture. 

Dr. Fitzpatrick is the chair of the ESCMID C. difficile study group, chair of the National Sepsis Governance Committee in the Health Services Executive, the chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Health Protection Surveillance Centre and a member of the board of the Dublin Dental Hospital.  In addition, Dr. Fitzpatrick retains an interest in pubic engagement in HCAI and AMR.
