Gloves off campaign- what worked/ didnt for your trust?

Hi all

Our sustainability group has officially launched a QI gloves off project this is something we have attempted in various forms previously, but never as a large QI project trust wide. I am aware gloves use  is a very complex behavioural change issue and this project is likely a long one!

Can anyone share their experiences of what worked/ what didn't? I am from a trust involving community Hospitals, Community services and mental health and LD any feedback or resources really appreciated :)

Thank you
Amy Barnes

Hi Amy, we are like you, we are hoping to implement this and have had our first meeting but have met resistance at the first hurdle. Be happy to chat through helen.wilcox5@nhs.net

The IPS have a SIG for Sustainability and they have a WhatsApp chat where you would be able to gain loads of information I would think.  The SIG is chaired by Graham Pike.

We have started one in our Trust this last couple of weeks, we have had a stand with questionnaires and next week have a trolley dash planned.  Lots of engagement form our staff

Initiatives promoting appropriate glove use are challenging but incredibly worthwhile, we started a small scale project pre pandemic which proved successful and we are re-igniting this on a larger scale.  We use prompts to replace gloves (physically removing gloves from racks), staff and patient leaflets explaining the rationale also help.
