- Dr Jon Otter, Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, who will discuss “Vascular access and infection prevention: making peripheral lines a central focus.”
- Rose McGuire, Vascular Access Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Royal Marsden Hospital, sharing insights on “Utilising Care Bundles as an improvement strategy in the prevention of CRBSI."
This session is tailored for IPC practitioners and vascular access practitioners, providing valuable insights into best practices for infection prevention.

SPEAKERS
Jon Otter
is a Clinical Scientist focused on healthcare-associated infection (HCAI), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and Infection Prevention and Control. He is currently the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in HCAI and AMR at Imperial College London.
Rose McGuire
is a Vascular Access (VA) Clinical Nurse Specialist, currently working at the Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) NHS Foundation Trust. She joined the NHS in 2000 as a Healthcare assistant, gaining a Diploma in Nursing from Kingston University, in 2006, and a BSc First Class Honours from King's College London in 2014. Over the years she has worked in Neurology and Neurosciences, before joining the VA Team at King's College Hospital in 2011, and left in December 2021.
Rose is passionate about all aspects of VA devices, insertion, care, and management and utilise best available evidence to set and maintain standards through training and education.
Rose is semi-retired, and when she is not elbow deep in something VA-related, Rose is otherwise engaged as:
- A mother of 4 children, and 6 grandchildren.
- A Community Partner, and Patient Public Involvement and Engagement member at Imperial College London, where part of my role is to review Infection Theme Pilot Project applications for research funding.
- The HTLV Patient representative for the International Retroviral Association.
To date she has have published several journal articles.
