Compassionate Care and Infection Prevention in Care Homes
IPS and other concerned infection prevention practitioners have collaborated to produce an open letter about the need to balance infection prevention with compassionate care which was published in the Nursing Times last week. There is a lot of concern that draconian restrictions are compromising the health and wellbeing of residents and their loved ones in the name of IPC. We are asking for a more pragmatic approach to care which maintains safety but allows people the compassion and dignity they deserve. Thank you to former IPS Presidents Jules Storr and Heather Loveday for organising the letter. It has received a lot of support with interest from the media too. You can read the letter here.
