World Antimicrobial Awareness Week

18 - 24 November 2024

AMR is a growing global threat that jeopardises modern medicine and the effectiveness of treatments for both humans and animals. As resistance to antibiotics increases, infections and injuries that were once easily treatable are becoming more difficult, or even impossible, to manage. In 2019, it was estimated that 1.27 million deaths worldwide were caused by infections resistant to antibiotics.

To support our members and IPC practitioners we have created a suite of resources that can be used this WAAW. We have signposted you to national and international campaign resources, webinars that are taking place throughout WAAW and member created WAAW tools that can be adapted and adopted for your use.

The theme for the World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2024 is “Educate. Advocate. Act now” and is a call to the global community to educate stakeholders on AMR, advocate for bold commitments and take concrete actions in response to AMR.
