Janice Toplass, RN, BSc (Hons) Infection Control and MSc Global Healthcare Leadership, is an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Specialist with over 25 years working in IPC leadership, most of these in the NHS before joining UK Health Security (UKHSA)’s Global Operations team in 2021. She now supports infection prevention and control and antimicrobial resistance prevention initiatives across the UK Overseas Territories, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and international partners to help strengthen preparedness and patient safety. Through these collaborations, Janice has gained valuable learning—drawing on colleagues’ local expertise, resourceful approaches, and deep understanding of diverse healthcare contexts. This mutual exchange has strengthened her ability to assist with technical IPC, peer support, and educational opportunities aiming for practical and sustainable improvements.
Janice brings a pragmatic, supportive approach translating evidence-based guidance into real-world practice to enhance IPC capability and health resilience.
