Brendan Moore Award

The Brendan Moore Award celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) while holding an official position or working closely with the Society.

About Dr Brendan Moore

The award is named after Dr Brendan Moore, a visionary epidemiologist who played a pivotal role in the early days of infection control. In 1959, Dr Moore had the foresight to appoint the first infection control nurse. He was also instrumental in organising the first Infection Control Nurses Association (ICNA) conference in 1970 and served as the first ICNA President.

Dr Moore’s dedication to advancing infection prevention continues to inspire the Society, and this award honours his legacy.
