In response to the rapidly evolving situation in Kent, IPS is hosting a fast-track webinar to provide urgent clinical and infection prevention guidance on the current Serogroup B (ST-485) cluster.
With a higher-than-expected case fatality rate and an identified immunity gap in young adults, this session will support frontline staff and IPC leads to recognise early signs of infection and take immediate action.
Topics will include:
- Understanding the ST-485 subvariant and its clinical impact
- Why MenACWY-vaccinated individuals may remain at risk
- Key early warning signs, including recognising sepsis before classic symptoms
- Immediate treatment approaches and outbreak management strategies
Due to the fast-moving nature of the outbreak, timely awareness is critical. A recording and supporting briefing document will be shared after the session for those unable to attend live.
