We’re excited to announce the launch of the Infection Prevention Society’s (IPS) new Early Career Network, a dedicated space for professionals starting out in their infection prevention and control (IPC) careers.
This new network has been created in direct response to the appetite we saw earlier this year, when we invited expressions of interest for an early career representative on our Clinical Leadership and Engagement Committee (CLEC). We were delighted to receive 15 expressions of interest, which made it clear there’s a strong and growing demand for more tailored support, networking, and opportunities for those starting out in IPC.
Whether you’re new to IPC through a healthcare setting, academia, or another route, the IPS Early Career Network aims to give you a platform to connect, share ideas, and help shape the future of our work together.
Those joining the Early Career Network will have the opportunity to be part of a national network of peers in the same stage of their career, contribute to shaping how IPS supports early career professionals, build connections and confidence through shared experiences, and access opportunities for involvement, learning, and growth.
We’ll be hosting our first meeting this summer, where members will help shape the priorities and future activities of the network. If you’ve been working in IPC for three years or less, this is your opportunity to get involved right from the start.
Our CEO, Dr Alex Rhys, commenting on the launch of this new network, saying: “At IPS, we recognise how important it is to support people at every stage of their IPC journey. The Early Career Network is a fantastic opportunity for those just starting out to connect, share, and develop, and to help shape the future direction of the Society. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this new network grows and the fresh perspectives it brings to IPS.”
