We’re pleased to announce the three candidates standing for election as our next Vice President.
The Vice President plays an important role within the Society, working in partnership with the President and Chief Executive Officer to support the delivery of IPS’s strategic objectives and help shape the future of infection prevention and control.
Following the close of applications, we are delighted to introduce this year’s candidates:
Amy Boden
Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust
Amy has over 13 years of specialist Infection Prevention and Control experience and currently provides executive leadership across two NHS organisations. Throughout her career she has championed patient safety, quality improvement, leadership development and sustainability, while remaining actively involved in the Infection Prevention Society through the West Midlands Branch and the Marian Reed Development Programme.

Rachael Skates
IPC Lead, South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
With almost 40 years of nursing experience, Rachael has worked across acute, community, mental health and ambulance services. She is passionate about innovation, education and ensuring all healthcare settings, including ambulance services, have a strong voice within the infection prevention community. Rachael has been an active IPS member for many years and previously served as Wessex Branch Coordinator.

Joanne Taylor
Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) and Infection Prevention & Control Consultant Nurse, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
Joanne has more than 20 years’ experience in Infection Prevention and Control and has held senior leadership roles across community and acute healthcare. A long-standing IPS member, former Trustee and Treasurer, she continues to support the Society through several national groups and is passionate about education, collaboration and ensuring the Society remains inclusive and accessible for all members.

How to vote
Voting will take place electronically via Microsoft Forms.
Eligible IPS members will receive an invitation to vote when the election opens on 12 August 2026. Voting will close at 11.59 pm on 2 September 2026.
Members are encouraged to read each candidate’s profile before casting their vote.
