IPS Branches

The IPS Branches support members locally, hold regular meetings and provide a forum to discuss professional issues and to meet colleagues. Please feel free to drop into a local event, details can be found here.

Branches devise their own professional and educational programmes including activities like

  • Clinical supervision
  • Project work
  • Awareness campaigns
  • Annual study days

They generally hold one annual infection prevention study day for general nurses to which members are also encouraged to attend as it provides an excellent networking opportunity. There are also other events for infection prevention practitioners.  The programmes have local and national expert speakers, provide lunch and are supported by a commercial exhibition. Branches are run by a team of volunteers who also feedback local issues and opinions to the IPS board.

Which Branch Do You Belong To?

The IPS has fourteen Branches, which cover all the UK and Ireland. To attend branch meetings, individuals must be registered with the Society who will pass their details to the relevant branch. Most branches secretaries write to a new member to welcome them and to invite them to attend local meetings.
