C diff Specialist Nurse, Nottingham University Hospital

About

I have worked as a Gastroenterology Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) Nurse Specialist at NUH since 2009. I initially held a Band 6 position on the designated C. diff ward before its disbandment, after which the role evolved into a standalone specialist service.

With a background in gastroenterology, my role focuses on the assessment and management of patients with confirmed or suspected C. diff infection. In 2020, I completed my Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, enabling me to independently initiate and adjust treatment regimens and enhance my practice as an autonomous clinician.

I am passionate about delivering high-quality, consistent care for patients affected by C. diff and strive to improve the experience and outcomes for this particularly vulnerable group.

I have also been instrumental in the development and delivery of the faecal microbiota transplant (FMT) service at NUH, helping to provide an effective treatment option aimed at breaking the cycle of this debilitating disease.
