About
Joe Burton, Sustainability Transformation Project Lead at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), is the lead author of UCLH’s ambitious net zero strategy Critical Care For Our Climate. Joe’s primary focus is on creating a Net Zero Procurement & Supply Chain. He is also leading on the development on alternative energy provisions for the Trust in the form of a Corporate Power Purchase Agreemement.
Joe has led several projects recently including:
- The introduction of reusable theatre hats
- The introduction of suture foil recycling, an NHS first
- A trial of reusable staff warming jackets in the operating theatre
- The introduction of remanufactured harmonic scalpels
- The introduction of reusable return electrodes
Joe is also the co-founder and current chair of The Circular Economy Healthcare Alliance, a collective of NHS Trusts pushing for bottom up sustainable change. Joe is also the current chair of the Association For Dental Hospitals Sustainability Sub Group
