Maya is a Clinical Specialist Lead at NHS Supply Chain, supporting national quality, safety, and value-based initiatives with a strong focus on safe vascular access and IV therapy practice and reducing device-related risks. She continues to work clinically as an Honorary Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Vascular Access and IV Therapy.
With over 20 years of experience across medical and surgical settings, Maya has held senior leadership roles including Senior Sister in Orthopaedics, where her interest in vascular access and device safety began. Later became a Vascular Access CNS and Deputy Service Lead at Frimley Park Hospital NHS FT, contributing to the development of the Trust’s IV Access Service prior to a national post with the Department of Health and Social Care from 2018.
Maya holds dual degrees in Nursing and Physical Therapy, a qualified Nurse Prescriber, with Post -graduate Diploma (PGD) in Healthcare Practice, Post-graduate Certificate (PGC) in Patient Safety and continuous to pursue her master’s degree (MSc) at the University of Oxford. She is a national and international speaker, visiting lecturer at the University of Surrey, BJN IV Supplement Editorial Board member, and NIVAS Board Member and Treasurer.
