Jennie has worked in the field if infection prevention and control for 40 years, as a specialist IPC nurse in acute NHS Trusts, a consultant epidemiologist at the Public Health England and as research academic at the University of West London. She has extensive experience of surveillance of healthcare associated infections, is author of the textbook Infection Control in Clinical practice. Jennie has conducted research on a wide range of clinically focused topics including the overuse of gloves, identifying patient at risk of pneumonia, preventing catheter associated UTI, and research in care home settings on improving hydration and managing residents with dysphagia. She is currently working on a project exploring the role of IPC in pandemic planning, and the updating of the Epic national clinical guidelines on prevention of HCAI.
