Lorraine Williams is currently the Infection Prevention and Control Deputy DIPC and Lead Nurse at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where they lead a dedicated team of IPC Practitioners and work collaboratively with a committed multidisciplinary staff group across the Trust.
They previously held the role of Vice President of the Infection Prevention Society, a role they consider a great privilege. They completed an MSc in Infection Prevention and Control and hold an Honorary Lectureship at the University of West London, working under the tutorship of Professor Jennie Wilson.
With a nursing background that includes experience in endoscopy and other clinical areas, Lorraine has also achieved a teaching qualification. They are a proud graduate of the NHS Leadership Academy’s Mary Seacole programme, which deepened their understanding of collaborative leadership in complex healthcare environments. In addition, they are a Florence Nightingale Foundation graduate and active member of its alumni community.
A passionate advocate for lifelong learning, inclusive thinking, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, Lorraine is committed to tackling complex challenges—particularly in the pursuit of eradicating avoidable infections.
