IPS Research/Quality Improvement Project (QIP) Grants

The IPS Research and Development (R&D) Committee offers Research/Quality Improvement Project (QIP) Grants to support innovative work in infection prevention and control (IPC).

These grants are a vital part of the IPS Research Strategy, focusing on three key goals:

  • Supporting high-quality research and quality improvement projects (QIPs) in practice.
  • Building collaborative partnerships with academic and clinical teams.
  • Developing the research and QIP skills of our members.

The grants aim to fund outstanding practice-based research and QIPs in the field of IPC. Each year, the IPS through its Research and Development Committee provides funding to support small research grants.

What kinds of projects are funded?

We’re looking to fund projects designed to improve any aspect of IPC practice and identify better ways of working, whatever the setting. Examples include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Digital working improvements.
  • Patient safety initiatives.
  • Sustainability-related improvements.
  • Behavioural science investigations.
  • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)-related research.

If you’re considering a project that fits these themes, we’d love to hear from you!

Eligibility

We welcome applications from Infection Prevention Society members at all career stages. If you’re new to research (including undergraduate or MSc students), you can apply as long as you include an experienced research supervisor in your application.

Requirements

Successful applicants will need to submit regular reports on the progress of their project and notify the R&D Committee of any mitigating circumstances or proposed changes to the study that might impact the grant awarded.

Application process

Members will be notified each year when applications open. Applications, once opened, will be made available on the website. To apply, applications must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.
