Aseptic technique

Overview

Aseptic technique is critical to protecting susceptible sites such as IV devices and wounds from infection and is therefore an essential component of an infection prevention and control programme. The aseptic technique infection prevention safety steps (A-TIPSS) have been created to support appropriate glove use and align hand hygiene moments with aseptic technique procedures. Each A-TIPSS is accompanied by a video, which can be accessed by scanning the QR code, that shows the aseptic technique procedure being performed.

Thank you

We would like to thank University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust for providing space and time in their clinical skills department for the filming of the A-TIPSS.

The A-TIPSS development team are Jennie Wilson, Sarah Wilkes, Tracey Corner and Carole Hallam.
