IPS launches draft Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy for consultation

The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) has today published its draft Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy and launched a consultation survey for members to share their views.

The draft strategy sets out a central statement and six high-level areas of focus:

  • Inclusive Membership
  • Equitable Events and Education
  • Diverse Leadership and Governance
  • Inclusive Communications and Language
  • Culture of Belonging
  • Values-Driven Partnerships and Influence

IPS is now seeking member feedback on the overall direction and central themes before moving on to define detailed actions and measures.

Dr Alex Rhys, CEO of IPS and Co-Chair of the EDI Strategy Steering Group, said: “As a society we know that preventing infection is about more than clinical excellence. It is also about creating an inclusive culture where every member, volunteer and partner can contribute fully and where the communities we serve feel represented and heard.

“This is about more than IPS itself. By embedding inclusion across our education, events and partnerships, we strengthen our ability to prevent infection and improve health outcomes for everyone.”

The strategy has been shaped through a collaborative effort involving IPS members and colleagues who are passionate about inclusion and its role in advancing infection prevention.

Lorraine Williams, Trustee and Co-Chair of the EDI Strategy Steering Group, added: “Your insight and feedback are essential to shaping a strategy that reflects our community and helps us advance infection prevention for all.”

The consultation survey is now live, and IPS encourages all members to take part and share their perspectives to help finalise the strategy.
