The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the role of Vice President.
This is an exciting opportunity for an IPS member to take on a key role within the Society, helping to shape its future direction while supporting members and advancing the infection prevention and control (IPC) profession.
As Vice President, you’ll work alongside the President, Chief Executive Officer and Clinical Leadership & Engagement Committee to help shape the strategic direction of the Society, represent the interests of members and contribute to the future of infection prevention and control.
The appointment will commence on 29 September 2026 and is for a two-year term of office.

Applications are open and candidates should have a strong understanding of the Society’s purpose and strategic direction, alongside the leadership skills, professional credibility and commitment required to help support IPS and its members.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop leadership experience, build relationships across the IPC community and contribute to the ongoing success of the Society.
The Vice President works in partnership with the President and CEO to support the delivery of IPS’s strategic objectives. Responsibilities include:
- Providing clinical leadership and member-informed perspectives through the Clinical Leadership & Engagement Committee
- Supporting the President and deputising when required
- Acting as a spokesperson and ambassador for the Society
- Representing IPS externally and strengthening partnerships across the sector
- Promoting the professional standing of infection prevention and control and supporting the interests of members
The role requires an estimated commitment of 3 – 5 hours per week and currently includes attendance at quarterly Clinical Leadership & Engagement Committee meetings and monthly President and Vice President drop-in sessions.

- Member voting opens: Wednesday 12 August 2026
- Member voting closes: Wednesday 2 September 2026, 9am
Voting will take place electronically, with eligible IPS members invited to vote for their preferred candidate.
